The Gilded Era: North America by Alt-Reality The Gilded Era: North America by Alt-Reality
There are probably quite a few mistakes left on this yet, but, after three drafts, a system crash and three computers it is in a finished enough state.

Oh, very interesting here! Appears that the British decided to go full force in expelling the French from BNA, eh? Don't even see St. Pierre left as a bastion of Nouvelle France. Also... my hometown is the capital of a new province. Interesting - though Thompson sounds a lot more capital-like than Fort McMurray. Would probably end up looking nicer as well, instead of a cluttered oil-town mess ;)

Also, is it just me, or was Baffin Island nuked from orbit? Actually... a few islands look off... Cape Breton is shattered, and Haida Gwaii has been whittled down to just Graham Island. Higher sea levels/warmer cliamte, mayhaps?

Anyhow... interested in see where you go with this!

That's beautiful work, man. Gorgeous.

One question, though: what's with the big-ass lakes in California? If one of 'em is supposed to be the Salton Sea, you've got it way too far north.

That, along with some islands, is my attempt at scale issues I notice in some older maps (where some things look smaller or bigger than they actually are).

Thanks!

Amazing as always!!

It looks like the Franco-Canadians were perhaps forced to leave *Quebec and resettled in northern Louisiana.

Can't say I know a lot about American history, so I have no comments about that, but the map looks glorious. Fantastic work, regardless of the mistakes you mentioned in the description. (Can't see them anyway.)

There are many things I like about this map, but there are also many things I don't know. Previously mentioned was the "Nephei Rebellion" which kinda-sorta sounds Mormon-ish? Also some unexplained areas like "Orientania" (the area between Louisiana and Mexico) that, quite frankly, we don't know what it means. Is it contested territory? Jointly governed? As said, we don't know.

These and a few issues should be addressed, but this really is a wonderful map. I absolutely love your independent Oregon. In fact you bacstory for the map is fantastic, but it seems to come out of nowhere. What changed in this timeline to make it like this?

Bottom line is I want to know more about this, because you've made a really good map.

Nephei? Mormons, I think. As in Nephites.

Very good.

Just two questions though.

1 - What year is this set in?

2 - Does that pink line between the Mexico and Louisiana territories mark some sort ofdisputed area?

Is it just me or were the Quebecois expelled to Louisiana?

Also, what's a Nephei Rebellion?
