Vampires have always been a passing interest for me; so as I was reading godawful vampire fiction the other day, a thought came to me . . .

'What if vampires were real, yet not supernatural?'

This led me to think of them as an ethnic group, which led to this map. The Upir are an ethnic-linguistic group in Eastern Europe, who were formed by a mass genetic mutation. Generally they tend to have slightly lighter skin than their other brethren, which is the main factor of the mutation. The other is that they have slightly longer canine teeth, though this is not always noticeable.

By the time this map takes place, they are all throughout Europe, though they've been treated as second-class citizens in Europe for centuries.

What a fascinating idea! Judging by the map, it looks like the Upir have replaced the OTL Old Prussians, which of course completely changes the unification of Germany. Assuming that this "vampire state" is in fact controlled by them, I wouldn't say they have it that bad... They have all of Silesia, and the entire Prussian coast. Then again, it could be as much owned and governed by them as Prussia was by the Old Prussians.

And look at France! They've certainly done well for themselves. Penance for all the times you've torn them apart, perhaps? =P

This is actually one of my favourite maps, personally. :)

Upirshina is controlled by these types of vampires; though they are minorities throughout the rest of the German, French and A-H spheres, that country almost acts as an Israel for vampires.

As for France; maybe just a more (or less) successful Napoleon. ;)
